ds1 is 9. weighs 7 1/2 stone. nearly as tall as me and i am 5ft 1.

his waist measures (if i have done it right) 27 inches and that seems to be an age 14 school trousers in most shops but then the leg lenght is huge.

where can i go, i have been all over and is he abnormal do you think?

My dd is 7, she weights 3.4 stone. All the trousers and skirts would fit her twice. They should do an age and a small/ medium /large.

charliecat · 01/09/2005 23:07

You could always put a hem on them if needbe!!!

jampots · 01/09/2005 23:08

same as my ds P&L. John Lewis £7 ones fit beautifully

peaceandlight · 01/09/2005 23:16

i don't mind hemming them up charliecat but i would have been chopping half the legs off!

Thanks jampots, will have a look at john lewis

Charliecat - my dd is 7 too - but only weighs 2 st 10lbs - it's a nightmare to find clothes isn't it (and she is about 4 ft 4 tall)

starlover · 02/09/2005 22:22

also if you hem ones that are tooooo long you tend to end up with a flare look!
trust me on this one!!! lol

gigglinggoblin · 02/09/2005 22:24

my ds is 6 and ive bought 9-10yo trousers from george for £4. will chop off half the legs and use hemming web as always.

starlover · 02/09/2005 22:27

listen to meeeeeeeee!

i used to look after 5 boys and their mum cut down some huge trousers for them, but because of the shape they ended up with flares!

don't do it"

gigglinggoblin · 02/09/2005 22:29

i have admittedly ended up with some flares in the past, but the george ones seem pretty straight. and im afraid there really isnt an alternative!

katymac · 02/09/2005 22:31

If DD get trousers to fit her legs they go round her 3 times....and you can't add a bit on

Fauve · 02/09/2005 22:54

Sorry to be thick, but what's hemming web, ggg? Will it save me from miseries of hemming?

Thansk also for John Lewis tip.

waterfalls · 02/09/2005 23:11

hemming web, also called wonder webb, you just iron it on to trouser legs........beats sewing.

Fauve · 02/09/2005 23:14

O God I haven't lived! Off to the haberdashery dept tomorrow - I guess i can just ask for it? All my past tiny stitches have been meaningless then.
