The Vauxhall Zafira, VW Touran and Toyota Somethingorother Verso all have a third row of seats for kids (very little leg room) that folds down into a large boot when not in use.

Have you looked at Nissan NV200? Technically it's a van but you can buy it as a combi van with 7 seats. It's like a galaxy only cheaper and with more boot space which can only be good with children Grin

Honda Stream - it's the same size as a Honda Civic (great if you hate driving MPVs) but has an extra set of seats which fold down when not in use. Still has a small boot with all 7 seats up. 2nd hand, are pretty reasonable.

Mazda Bongo

8 seats and you can sleep in it And use it as a van. Perfect!

We got our S-Reg Ford Galaxy for £850, it is fabulous. Spacious, with choices of seat configuration. Boot space fits two buggies in. The best thing is that the floor space is completely flat, so you can put things in the foot wells easily. We went to IKEA to buy a table & it just slid in front of the seats.

4madboys · 28/08/2010 21:41

we have a volkswagon sharran, basically the same as the galaxy, we are about to have baby no 5 and there is space for all 5 kids, four of whom are in carseats/high back boosters and i can get a bugaboo in the back or our three wheel pushchair, we do have a roof box for when we go on holiday tho! Grin

KickArseQueen · 28/08/2010 23:39

You can buy my Galaxy if you like :)

Its time for a new one and personally I will not buy anything else.

My current one is an N reg and even at that age they are very good cars.

If you take out the 7th seat you can put a buggy upright in the back (even a phil and teds with a doubles seat)

HTH :)

DiscoDaisy · 28/08/2010 23:41

Grand Voyager and Voyager. My favourite 7 seater as the seat configuration is 2 2 3 so you don't need to lift the middle seats to get in the back row.

happyland · 29/08/2010 20:37

Volvo xc90 - Seven adult sized seats and you still have a good sized boot. Mine is currently for sale on ebay! We are going to buy a new one.

LittleCheesyPineappleOne · 29/08/2010 20:48

Do the seats in the Galaxy fold into the floor when you're not using them? (We don't have a garage or storage for car seats).

AddictedToRadley · 29/08/2010 22:10

I think you have to take the Galaxy seats out although maybe wrong. Somebody will be along to tell you for sure soon.

The beauty of the Nissan NV200 combi is that the back seats fold forward then flip up over the wheel arches so they're easily accessible if you need them and also easy to use. Plus you don't need to empty the boot before you can put them up like you would with a Zafira. The seats are all adult sized seats too which is a bonus plus you can fold 6 of the seats easily if you wanted to carry something long like a wardrobe for example.
I can't wait to get mine as I can fit a double pushchair like Firstwheels Twin, my mums mobility scooter and a weeks worth of shopping without any trouble. Imagine all the clothes etc I can take on holiday now without hubby moaning there'll be no space in the car..... Grin hhhmmmmmm. Can't wait to get it!!

Plus it's very reasonably priced new and I'm even getting a reversing camera as standard with mine which helps with blind reverse parking.

KickArseQueen · 29/08/2010 23:12

You do need to remove the galaxy seats BUT!!!! they fold in half and then flip forward so they are out of the way. ( This also means you can fold them in half when storing them.

You can also get integrated child seats like this one :)

cheap on ebay

warthog · 29/08/2010 23:16

toyota verso

Iwishiwasasleep · 29/08/2010 23:25

I love my Hyundai Santa Fe. Loads of room. 2 proper seats in the back that fold flat. Huge boot with seats down and small boot when seats are up. It's a pleasure to drive and doesn't feel huge and heavy. Also, 3 child carseats fit in the back no problem.

[runs away before anti 4x4 ppl start throwing eggs]

SofiaAmes · 29/08/2010 23:31

We have a toyota 4runner with the extra row of seats and LOVE it. We are in the usa, so don't know if it's available in the uk, but if it is, it's a fantastic car. It's very well laid out and manly enough to keep husbands happy.

KAQ I love the idea of the built in car seat within an ordinary seat. Great if you're carrying DCs friends and you don't have a spare car seat 'floating' around. What a genius idea, shame they don't come as standard in every family car.

booyhoo · 30/08/2010 01:45

ooh, me likey this thread.

KickArseQueen · 30/08/2010 18:20

Right! Found my new galaxy Grin should be picking it up on friday, old one is now up for sale £795 ono, any offers?? LOL!

Galaxys are lovely, may get myself one of the integrated seats for dc4 the extra genius thing about those seats is you can put them in the middle which is otherwise a lap belt iyswim :):)
