To shave or stat natural

My husband has suggested I shave my pubes off. I'm not sure, has anybody any thoughts on this. I'm not against it, never done it before, but I'm wondering why do men like a bare vagina?

OP posts:

Why like... For myself (M) I don't, and my main guess would be a fashion started by porn, to have images that show even more😣
Another story, from quite a few years ago - an office rumour among colleagues, that one manager asked his wife they should both shave... And it was to hide how he got crabs! Hopefully not for you though.

Anthonnysimagination · 20/10/2026 19:36

For me two main reasons first being variety . Keeps things novel and interesting I have no real preference but if pushed I do like a Parisian over a Hollywood.

Second reason is I’d do prefer oral with a bit less hair if you particularly enjoy exploring all around the vulva and is noticeably more pleasant when performing it.reverse cowgirl style.

DW is happy to oblige as being trimmed is an essential for her to give oral which I am perfectly fine with.

Why not lean in give it a try and see what it does for both of you. OP if you do do it I’d recommend some good quality silicone lube to get your kitty glistening sit back and let him enjoy 😉

ps for me absolutely nothing to do with porn

ManCage · 20/10/2026 20:43

Do it if you want to. They’ll grow back and you can stay natural if you don’t like being bald. Will he shave his off too? Suggest that to him. I’ve no preference, it’s up to my wife how she keeps hers.

StripyShirt · 21/10/2026 00:31

Man here, I prefer natural.

ruffler45 · 21/10/2026 06:28

Natural every time 😀

I’ve been “all off” for many years. Originally from the influence of elder sister who is still the same too.

These days l go for monthly Hollywood waxes, l’ve shaved when younger and in the past though when I’ve got bored with the regrowth. Little tip, if you do wet shave use hair conditioner, the razor glides. If yo u go for waxing, avoid just before a period.

Over the years, some have expressed surprise when they’ve seen it for the first time, l even been asked to grow it out; refused! I don’t do it for anyone else, l do it for me. It is also more comfortable in the warm weather. I don’t buy the porn influence thing, maybe the real world has influenced porn? NB: l don’t want a debate on here about this one, thank you.

And before anyone brings up that old chestnut of saying it looks pre-pubescent, (often while they remove their own underarm and leg hair) if you see me naked, my hips are not like a child, my vulva’s appearance is nothing like that of a child and l wear a size 36F bra; not exactly childlike. I thought l’d get that in before anyone has a go at me!

I wouldn't dare have a go at you Starlight! 😂

mnmnddddd · 21/10/2026 07:36

100% agree with @StarlightLady
I feel more physically comfortable bare and I prefer how it looks. It's my body, I don't do it for anyone else (most of the last 10yrs I've either been single or in a sexless marriage) and if anyone asked me to go au naturel, they could shove it ...

I've been mostly hair free for 25-30yrs. Initially shaved, but would never go back to stubble itch having discovered waxing.

On the childlike argument, we don't level the same criticism at women who like men to shave their faces or get their chests waxed.

Bottom line - try it. If you don't like it, grow it back.
If your DH also likes it, that's a bonus. Doing things that please our partners is not a bad thing.
And if you want to challenge his stance on gendered beauty standards, agree to go hairless if you can shave his pubes.: it's a huge trust exercise and (IMHO) one of the most erotic things you can do.

Outnumbered89 · 21/10/2026 08:55

I also have monthly Hollywood’s, have done for around 15 years. It’s all personal preference. I prefer how I feel when I have a Hollywood, DH doesn’t have a preference either way but I like the sensations.

JT1999 · 21/10/2026 13:15

I got lasered a good few years ago, I left nothing below my mound and did the edges there too so I never need to worry about bikini line stragglers, even with a small bikini. It certainly beats shaving. But since being pregnant I need to book a few more sessions as its grown back patchy. I always left a small triangle at the top, but I usually just keep that off with a razor. Someone once affectionately said they liked my "chilli heatwave dorito" and I've never been able to forget it 🙈

Smooth just feels nicer to me, I always preferred it on partners, there is a point when there's just too much hair but maybe I'm more sensitive to textures than some people are. Hubby keeps it short everywhere and some bits smooth too, I think his pubes would grow halfway up his cock if he let them grow out. No thanks!

Stay natural it’s meant to be there for a reason.

So if you are female l assume you retain your leg hair, underarm hair and never have a haircut because it’s there for a reason? I also assume you never wear make up because that isn’t natural.

If you are male, l assume you never shave your face?

Don't forget clothes. They're 100% un-natural - they're definitely not meant to be there for a reason.

After you then, get naked.

Nice try. As I wasn't the one saying the removal of body hair is unnatural, and because you're a clever boy ... yes you are ... yes you're such a clever, clever boy .... I'm sure that just moments after you posted your comment, you undoubtedly spotted the use of irony - you know what irony is, don't you? It's like goldie, or silvery or ... oh never mind.

The original post was about pubic hair, not legs or underarm hair.

Hair is hair. You cannot substantiate saying personal choice is not appropriate in one area but wrong in another.

Nobody is suggesting anybody should remove any of their body hair against their will. I choose to, l have friends who do, friends who don’t and something in between.

CarbonelKitten · 21/10/2026 22:19

Wow. Contentious 😄

I merely trim but have never had any complaints.

Oh, I am a clever boy, I do double irony lol

brunettemic · 22/10/2026 12:06

I’ve been bare for a long time. I just prefer it that way, my body, my rules. I’ve tried leaving a strip but it was more effort.

Isthatmytea · 22/10/2026 20:05

A lot of this is very subjective. I've never shaved my pubes; my partner has shaved for 30 years or more. Vive la difference!

SexEdInMy50s · Yesterday 14:21

Slight tangent here
I seem to be very much in the minority to use removal cream. I wonder why? (Used to be Immac, now called Veet)

Regrowth is softer than shaving, doesn’t need to grow out long enough to be waxed and it’s so easy to do. And for the record, I do it for myself too (either that, or use a trimmer to keep it very short)

I asked a recent partner “do you prefer bald or natural?”
His reply was perfect. He said “yes” meaning he likes both, it’s completely up to me. What a gentleman.

eta: feels much fresher in hot weather, and always bikini ready for a last minute spa day, or holiday

StarlightLady · Yesterday 15:13

@SexEdInMy50s - l used Veet for a while and then returned to going for a monthly full Hollywood wax. I went waxing for a while because of the regrowth before the next session although waxing regrowth is softer and lighter than anything else.

l found Veet quite messy and the plastic thingy tended to scratch to get the hairs right off. So in the end l decided it was not for me.

mnmnddddd · Today 08:37

@SexEdInMy50s I found cream didn't break down hair within anything like the recommended time and I wasn't inclined to leave a potential irritant on my genitals for long enough.

ItsMayHem2 · Today 12:36

I have been both at different times. Early days I was shaved bald, found it gave men less of an excuse to not go down. Then I went hairy, all trimmed neatly though. And occasionally I get nostalgic and shave them off again. My DP shaved his bald and it looked so odd I laughed
