Receiving sexual messages from men on MN

I made a post in the Sex section of MN a while ago which, with hindsight, was probably an error of judgment on my part. After posting it, I received a message from a man who initially gave the impression of being sympathetic and understanding regarding the situation I originally posted about. After I responded, he soon tried to steer the conversation in an overtly sexual direction. He claimed to be in possession of a "big spongy helmet" in reference to his penis, while also describing what he wanted to do (or wanted me to do) with the aforementioned appendage. I have seen and heard penises described using various slang and alternative names through the years, but that one probably takes the prize for the least alluring way I've seen one described.

He also sent other messages of a sexual nature. I later looked up his posting history on MN and there seemed to be an insidious nature to it - he has posted in threads from women having difficulties in relationships or posting about sexual issues under the guide of offering support or helpful advice. I assume these posts were made were trying to give the impression of being helpful, when his true intention was to message women with the intention of getting his rocks off and hoping they engage. I was naive and fell for it. I have learned my lesson now however.

Well, yes it does happen from time to time though perhaps not so blatantly in my experience; but "big spongy helmet" 😂 oh how to 'woo' a lady!

OneTake · 15/09/2026 17:29

Ewww.. What's his name?

Maccar305 · 15/09/2026 17:32

Please make sure he’s reported, idiots like this are giving the rest of us a bad name.

Bananaramahammock · 15/09/2026 18:10

What was his username please @NotSoNaive?

Sadcafe · 15/09/2026 18:33

I’ve posted on the sex thread and many others, messaging a woman on the site is what gives the men who post on here a bad name and simply reinforces the sad and somewhat deserved stereotype, no issue if the woman initiates the contact but not the other way round

GentlemanJay · 15/09/2026 21:10

Just to address the balance. I’ve been messaged by a number of women here.

As A recipient if you are not happy receiving them, ignore or delete. Simples. Why engage when you know it will fan the flames.

AtYourPleasure · 15/09/2026 21:22

Big spongy helmet! 😂🤣😂

PermanentTemporary · 15/09/2026 21:48

Just report. It happens from time to time, or at least has happened ever since the Sex board came into being.

WarmWhisper · 15/09/2026 23:22

Haha that takes the prize for the worst attempt ever 🤣🤣 Hey at least it provides a laugh too! Same as previous poster - messages to both ways. Although I've never had a lady describe her myself as a soft wet sponge.....

Seems textbook stuff to a lot of guys on this board OP. They always, without exception, start like this before moving the conversation on. I’ve been messaged by many men on here in the past and not yet “met” one who didn’t follow this pattern. When I say many, I mean 20+. I’ve been here many years!

Some were better than others though 🤷‍♀️

PMQs · 16/09/2026 07:54

What denotes better?

Asking for a friend 😉

ItsMayHem2 · 16/09/2026 08:51

I’ve had similar but nothing as laughable as that. Definitely name and shame, it would be good to compare names and report to MN en masse

HairyBush · 16/09/2026 11:49

I suppose his spongy helmet would come in handy if he fell off his moped.

OneTake · 17/09/2026 16:42

Moped or push bike?

(I'm M59).

It's hard to find a forum on which men can participate in discussion of relationship/sex problems. I'm less active on here than formerly as I've found a couple of decent forums on Reddit. The Dadsnet section of MN is too quiet to be useful, unfortunately. I take your point, but not everything's "ick".
