AIBU taking this to heart… have been seeing someone for the last couple months but haven’t been intimate yet, we were having a convo about doing the deed and he made a comment about how he hopes I don’t have an outie (private parts not belly button lol) as innies are nicer.

but to his horror I said well actually I do and no one has ever complained before. He laughed it off and said he was just joking but now I feel uncomfortable as I know I have something he doesn’t like!

would that be a means for dismissal in your eyes or AIBU as it’s just his preference? I’ve just never known a man to care before let alone have a preference that they vocalise…

Having a preference isn’t a problem but clumsily stating it to your would-be sexual partner definitely is. He’s either stupid/tactless or picky/entitled.

I would leave him. You will always remember what he said and be self conscious about it. Why would he even say it? I know someone exactly like this who always says things like this as banter, and guess what. I am divorcing after a long time together as banter becomes too much and can hurt.

Without knowing the rest of the conversation, I don't think it's possible to make a call on how appropriate it was for him to say that. If you've mutually got to talking about genitals, that would be mitigation. That said, it was at best clumsy.
IMHO it's not something you need to hang onto, but if it's stuck in your head now, there's no harm in letting him know. Commination is everything and it would be a lesson for him. If he doesn't learn from it, then bin him.
