Not for me at all, but I can see why some people benefit from them. I think having one while in a fully functioning sexual relationship is totally unnecessary. That’s just my personal view.

Creepy. I'd be really turned off if a potential partner was into these, although I don't care what others get up to in private. In my eyes they are not comparable to something like a male masturbator or a dildo. It's the way they look like an exaggerated version of a human. And I've read about men using them as an emotional support way as a replacement for a healthy human connection.

They just say Only Fools & Horses to me - popping up behind the sofa in Del Boy's flat!

Otterhound · 31/08/2024 13:17

I cant see attraction personally as they just look (and probably feel) totally fake and I can see why owning one would give a woman the ick.

Catullus5 · 31/08/2024 17:17

Where on earth would you keep one?

What if you bought one while lonely and single, and then started a relationship?

Would you have to name it on your contents insurance? They're expensive!!

What if you buy one and go off it?

I don't see anything wrong with owning and using a sex doll. It seems like an entirely private matter to me and I don't see what harm can be caused by them, Some men are choosing them instead of real relationships. That seems to be for misogynistic reasons though, rather than because of the existence of sex dolls.

I thought this was a nuanced article.

If we look at it closely and with compassion, male desire is more complicated than most people assume it to be

Weird

Kerkyra2024 · 31/08/2024 18:21

I personally don't see anything wrong with having one so long as the person using it doesn't form an unhealthy attachment to it. I can understand the appeal of having the comfort of a human form to hold during the activity.

PTown · 02/09/2024 09:54

Personally? I wouldn’t go near a man with one; too many incel vibes. I find them creepy and misogynistic—the unrealistic body shape of them tells me everything I need to know.

Angelofmycoins · 02/09/2024 12:02

Do they make satisfying male ones?

Catullus5 · 02/09/2024 18:59

According to the above article, yes, but they're not big sellers.

Shiningout · 02/09/2024 19:12

Most of the dolls I have seen look like 16 year old girls or even younger so yes I think they are creepy asf and wouldn't go near a man who had one

You'd need to make sure the council don't find out otherwise you could loose your single person council tax discount.

Does anyone remember the Benny Hill sketch from 1972 where he played Cyril who had a sex doll? He hid it under the sofa when his neighbour played by Paula Wilcox came to his flat. It was one of the funniest things I have ever seen which is why I remember it but very bawdy.

Exactly, the dolls are all tiny and look like Barbies. I know less material is cheaper but it's encouraging grim habits
I think they're gross.
And the ones in Japan that are kids size 🤮
