Should you fulfill your fantasy

This thought came to me today and I'm not sure where I stand.

If you could would you fulfill your fantasy, or is it better left to your imagination?

My fantasies have never involved people other than my partner. So I’ve managed to fulfil some.

ForestOfDean · 23/12/2023 18:10

Should you fulfill your fantasy?

Yes.

Ianz · 23/12/2023 18:13

I think it pretty much depends on what the fantasy is. Some you can fulfil, others are best kept in check 😅

Confused118 · 23/12/2023 21:42

100% fulfil and enjoy - no regrets from me

filthypride · 24/12/2023 04:45

Unless they end a relationship. My ex chose his fantasies of going to sex clubs and cheating over the love I had for him, so, it's a no from me.

mnmnddddd · 24/12/2023 08:02

Is the fantasy legal, safe, consensual, respectful and would you regret it afterward?

Offwiththecircus · 24/12/2023 08:23

I don't see why not if all parties are happy with. Yep I suppose the reality might prove disappointing, but surely no worse than a disappointing christmas present, play, TV prog, chocolate, car, tech device. And probably a hell of a lot cheaper. And ex of mine immediately quashed any fantasies she admitted to by saying "Of course they are just fantasies, not real" and quashed them all. Went hand in hand with repression and being troubled by dreams which to me weren't worrying at all.
Play safe of course.

good point about what the fantasy is - any clues?

Yes.

I think sensible to caveat it with depends on the fantasy. I would draw the line at some

ForestOfDean · 25/12/2023 23:50

You're right and I wonder if the trick is to share part of your fantasy and not all of the details? I have a hunch that if I'd shared more of what I enjoyed with DP 20 years ago when we got together I'd have a better idea of what their fantasies were. As it is, I'm 20 years in and have not been able to even start on one of my fantasies....always blocked. I wish I'd have known this sooner.

DixonD · 26/12/2023 11:01

My husband and I have been together 17 years and are only just starting to talk about stuff like this. It’s never too late. Yesterday he suggested that we each write one down in a note book every now and then for each other to read which I thought was an interesting idea.

Hijinks75 · 26/12/2023 18:15

Depends what it is and who else would be involved doesn’t it, fairly sure most of us have fantasies but they are not always achievable

NotASexBomb · 08/01/2024 10:57

Why not? My view is that anything two consenting adults do willingly, without any coercion, without any kind of physical nor emotional pain/damage, and without legal repercussions (like doing the deed in a public park!) is fair game.
