Unbearably itchy clitoris

Can anyone help as to why this is happening?

I get I strong, overbearing, intolerable itch deep in the centre of my clitoris once every few months lasting 3 of 4 days. I can't ignore it, can't think about anything else, can't sleep, can't wear anything other than extremely loose trousers/dresses/skirts.

I've had thrush before, so it's definitely not that, plus I've used the thrush/BV testing kits which are always negative. I had a clear STD check about a year ago (and haven't had sex since). Smears are up to date and mentioned it to the nurse at my last one and she looked at me as if i was mental and just dismissed me. Doesnt form a pattern in line with my very regular cycle. Sometime happens while im on my period as well as other times of the month - and onlg happens every few months, not in any sort of regular pattern but still often enough to effect me. Nothing unusual or different discharge wise, no smell, no redness. No other area effected, literally just my clitoris. And worst of all, it can't even be scratched because its my clitoris and really sensitive!

Best I can do is push down pressure on it, but that just seems to highlight how deep the source of the itch is and that I can't even reach it.

Anyone have any idea what this could be??? I'm at my wits end and it's driving me to distraction. Nothing I've googled has brought up anything it could be, and I've probably not described it very well.

I went in for my annual skin check and asked the dermatologist about an occasional itch in a couple spots on my back. She had a look and told me that she was pretty sure that the problem was not the skin but a pinched nerve, probably in my neck. I don't know what path the nerves to the clit take, but I wonder whether you have pinched nerve somewhere.

Yes another vote for a pinched nerve, i suffer with Brachioradial Pruritus which results in random bouts of intense itching but that effects the top sides of the arms and shoulders.
Scratching it only makes the itching sensation worse as its not actually a dermatological issue that's causing the itching in the first place.
Ice packs do bring relief perhaps you could (carefully!) try that?

I occasionally get this. I think maybe it's because the area is so sensitive and so it can easily be triggered by certain washing powders, soaps, pads etc. I know it's sounds stupid but the only way I get rid of the itch is an orgasm.

Thank you for replying - reassuring to know its not just me. Googling re the nerve and it does sound like what's happening, although there doesn't seem to be much I can do unfortunately!

I'm sure you've considered this, but would it be worth trying another consultation with a health professional? There's only a limited amount we can do over the internet! Hopefully you'll get someone who doesn't dismiss or laugh at you. They're supposed to be trained in consultation skills! In fact I've even given lectures on communication to medical and nursing students myself, so I know they are!
