Times of day to DTD

What time of day do you think is 'normal' to DTD? Before DH and I lived together and only saw each other once or twice a week we used to have sex at bedtime or after waking up (or both). But TBH I've always had much more of a sex drive first thing in the morning than at night. So when I moved in with DH we just cut out the night time sex and did it in the morning or during the day if we were around. Then along came the DC and that was mornings ruled out too! Luckily DH mostly WFH so we almost always have sex during naptime or when the DCs are both at childcare/school. For the last five years we've literally never had sex in the evening. DH says (jokingly) that this is 'weird' and we ought to try nighttime sex again 'like literally every other couple on the planet'. Sticking to daytime sex does admittedly reduce the opportunities for DTD, but is it as unusual as he's suggesting?

Once kids come along, whenever you can!

Your dh is wrong of course that every other couple has sex in the evening.

Although it is lovely to go to sleep straight after a great orgasm in your lovers arms. Perhaps it's that element he is missing? Just a guess

i think many relationships go wrong because sex becomes something you do when you go to bed.

I prefer day time. Night time bed is for sleep.

Usually night time once kids are asleep, sometimes morning if we have the opportunity. And occasionally daytime if he's off work and they are at school. I am probably most horny in the mornings but the household is way too busy to make that a regular thing. I'd normally just use a vibrator then.

I actually prefer late afternoon/early evening! By the time I'm getting ready for bed I'm thinking of work the next day, I'm tired and often just want to be comfy and zone out on my phone for 10 mins before I sleep. Similarly in the morning I wake up needing to pee and also very hungry so I'm hardly in the mood (though I can be persuaded back after a toilet stop and a snack 😂) Early evening, ideally before dinner, I have energy, I'm engaged, I'm not too full or hungry and therefore am much more likely to be in the mood.

I don't like the word "normal". What's right for one couple might not be right for another. Have sex whenever the hell you like!

We usually do it at night when we get to bed but sometimes as it’s late that makes it feel like we are rushing so we can go to sleep! When the kids were small we would settle the DC then do it straight away, so at about 7pm. Now it’s more like 10/11pm but I’d rather earlier evening or morning. If it works for you then there’s no ‘normal’ time!

I enjoy it any time of day! I'd rather avoid late night though... Too stressful because I'm usually half asleep or bothered about missing sleep.

Late evening for me, when everything is done and it's time to relax and unwind.

Used to enjoy night times , but as I’ve gotten older it’s better in the mornings now as you get the higher natural testosterone levels, by 10pm iim done for now

When we were first married it would usually be night time and just occasionally first thing in the morning. Over the years it's flipped the other way round. Morning, on waking up, relaxed on a non-work day we've found is a great time to have the best sex rather than last thing at night when quite often all we want to do is sleep.

If we lived alone in the house and weren't both in full-time work, day-time sex would be fun but haven't done that for years (sadly!)

I prefer in the mornin or in the afternoon as I fund I feel energised after sex. My partner felt sleepy. Do it when it suits.

Before DC came along we always had sex in the morning. Now it's almost always at bedtime.

I think hormonally, morning sex suits me better but I think it's hornier in the dark/ half light of the evening.

Usually happens at night in my house but do prefer morning sex. Difficult with teenage kids around but I really like the warmth of the bed and bodies in it and it seems really natural. Once teeth cleaned of course. I do miss the good old pre children days of just writing of a weekend day by staying in bed all day and having sex, relaxing for a bit then having more sex.
