Anyone dated a possible sex addict? He’s just cheated….

Hi all, has anyone dated or is a sex addict. We’ve been dating about 6 weeks. The signs were there that he might be addicted to sex or just have an extremely high libido eg. Claiming he wants sex 5 or more times a day if he’s in a relationship, sex on his mind a lot. I just thought it was funny as we both work full time, wouldn’t have the time for that and didn’t take it seriously.

But he promised he wasn’t a cheat and talked about how hurt he’s been by being cheated on.

I kept searching for an emotional connection but was really struggling to find it with him even though we got on really well. I thought it might develop.

But he has just cheated and has had a one night stand.

Anyone had a similar experience, feeling really stupid for falling for the bullshit of him claiming he’s only a one woman man 😞

On the headline, there's a big article in today's Guardian about looking to medicalise something that's just compulsion.

But the other words you use suggest that it's not a massively beneficial relationship?

That article is great at differentiating between a sex addict and a cheat.

If you can't commit to a monogamous relationship, then don't.

I can fully empathise with the article author. It was the 10 years of hidden behaviours with the sex addiction I found so hard to deal with in XH. He became a lying scum who changed in my eyes overnight, and knocked me for six not knowing who to trust and allowing myself to trust again.
