Sexy wedding anniversary

Hi mumsnet, first time thread for me here.

My wife and I (mid/late forties) are coming up on our 20th wedding anniversary, and I'm looking for ideas to make it special.

Our love life is not where it used to be and would like to surprise her with something fun and sexy. Perhaps even to spice things up.

Any and all ideas welcome, from simple to more elaborate plans. If you have any experience or thoughts please do share. Looking forward to your responses :)

Do you think that a sexy surprise would be appreciated, without any prior discussion? If she is happy with the status quo, then it might not be well received.

Fair point. Meant more like a surprise weekend away. If anything she's said before the need to spice things up away from home.

What sort of area are you thinking of travelling to?

This is so thoughtful, does your wife have any particular hobbies or interests? I’d love to be whisked away to a yoga retreat with my partner but that wouldn’t be everyone’s idea of fun! Especially his 🤣 So Art…Tate Modern in London, cookery…attend a class together, that sort of idea.

I think having a purpose, apart from sex away from home, might remove some of the pressure on both of you if that area has been a little flat lately. And congratulations on 20 years!!

@liljeblomst What does she love to do, Spa's? Camping? City Hotel? Also ask the question re what direction she might like the trip away to be, she maybe a Camping gal yet fancies a Spa trip...

Definitely go with something thoughtful, generous and for you both, then just see how things go.

Also your own prep on the run up, nice haircut, perhaps some new clothes and shoes, get the car cleaned and looking spangly, basically pull out all the stops to let your DW see that your trip matters and thus she matters.

If you do want to cover the just in case eventuality then don't take a flight case of toys and whips and stuff.

Tbh if you have a wonderful time, you both can talk about what the Spicing things might look like I reckon you will have had a lovely weekend...you never know she might hit the Fuck it button...but don't expect it!

We are in the Americas and could do city or beach, even Europe. I would would love to go camping but think she is more inclined to a beach location. Like the yoga/spa idea. She has mentioned the toys idea in the past but never acted on it.

The preping side to make it special for her is very good feedback. After 20 yrs and 3 teenage kids I want her to feel special on this date.

If your wife has mentioned toys in the past then I think it’s fine to bring one along as a surprise. Remember to charge it beforehand! You could have a lovely day at the beach, back to the hotel and shower together, out for dinner then see where the evening takes you.
