Fishy smell when he comes inside me

I am in a LDR and only see my bf every 3 weeks or so. As per thread title, I have the issue of a couple of hours after he cums inside me, there is a distinctive fishy smell. Which becomes more of an issue the more he does it over the weekend we’re together.

I know you’re all thinking Aha! BV! But because it’s often weeks of not seeing him, and because I’ve had BV before, I don’t think it is. In the weeks between seeing him, there are no BV symptoms at all, no watery discharge, not even a hint of fishy-ness.

I have tried treating with balance activ which worked when I previously had BV, but the problem still occurs.

Any suggestions of what could be causing this? We’ve been together 3 years and it’s been a problem throughout (although he’s too polite to say anything, but it’s a problem for me as I feel self conscious about it).

It's normal

Possibly an infection but I'd say it's far, far more probable that it's simply the smell of stale semen and nothing to worry about.

Assuming you have had a recent, clear STI test, I'm inclined to think this too. There's a thread from a few years ago discussing this issue and it seems quite common.
(You can get a swab test in the post from SH:24, or I think Superdrug/pop in to the clinic for a full screen).

Sounds normal to me, semen contains urea. Cum stinks after a few hours, particularly in a moist warm environment...

I know you say it's not BV but when I had it, I could only smell it during/after sex. Never at any other time.

Best see a Doctor, get to the bottom of it so to speak.

I've never been able to leave Cum inside me without it stinking to high heaven after a couple of hours. That is anyones cum BTW from the age of 16 to the ripe old age of forty and I've never had BV and don't ever smell any other time. So yeah, it's the cum because it is alkaline and your vagina is acidic. The two don't make for a nice aroma, shall we say.
Theres nothing wring with you, although you need to shower after sex tbh.

I've had this before with a specific ex. It is BV at least was with me and exact same that it got worse each time we slept together in a specific time frame and down to, I guess the exact ph of his sperm not agreeing for want of better wording. Condoms could be a solution

As long as it’s only after unprotected sex, it’s unlikely to be BV.

Vaginas are acidic, semen is alkaline- the chemical reaction of the two can cause a fishy smell.

Has he been sti checked?

@Haddockandchipstwice Did you get checked out? It could also help if he experiments with his diet.

You have BV. Trust me, its one of the most obvious symptoms. Go to a Dr or you can get the meds on online pharmacy if you type in your symptoms, the pharmacist will recognise it as BV.

See if it happens if you use a condom.

IME it is the semen that starts to smell.

How about a thorough wash after sex? Really rinse yourself out?

What if it's him not you?

It's BV triggered by the change in PH with the semen.

Unfortunately the only solution would be for him to wear a condom or not ejaculate inside you.

Are you wearing fancy lingerie when you see him? Could also be a trigger if you're wearing tight non-cotton undies.

Also obviously don't use any soap in the area.

Get online and get the BV treatment.

Yes! This happened to me with DP when we were in a ldr. Now we live together it doesn't happen. I don't know if that's because we now have sex a couple of times a week rather than say 6 times in a weekend...
