Creak Free bed!

Hi all

I’m moving to a flat soon and want to get a low noise bed for when my BF comes over! We are in the honeymoon period so like to have a lot of sex when we see each other. When we are at his house his bed creaks a lot and thinking about what the neighbours might be thinking can be off putting so that would be even worse in a flat! Any idea to the type of bed that’s likely to make less noise? ie less creaking, squeaking etc

thanks!

My suggestion is a king size double divan bed which has a solid base. Plus a wooden headboard.

I would keep clear of any metal type beds

Hop this helps

I have a king-size IKEA wooden bed frame with a memory foam mattress and that's very very quiet no creaks or squeaking

@Satinthemiddle Ditto. We've got one of these. We can bounce around to our hearts' delight and the bed remains as quiet as a mouse. Really firm, comfy mattress too.

Alternatively if you wanted to go Japanese-style OP you could go for a futon. Nothing that will creak or vibrate or squeak at all with one of those!

I absolutely love mine and it's really sturdy ( almost like a mini 4 poster so quite handy if your adventurous)

Fab thanks all. Might pop to IKEA and have a look! BF suggested I buy a metal bed so he can tie me to it! lol. I just want one that doesn’t want too much noise or I’ll be ashamed to see the neighbours

Great to get a creak free bed but remember the vocal element. When I lived in a flat post divorce, my upstairs neighbour was a bit of a lothario. He had three separate girlfriends and I had a nickname for each one of them.

the religious one(Oh god, ohhhh goddd, ohhhh godddddd.)
touretes syndrome (Oh fuck, oh fuck)
Squeaky.

Bit depressing when I was depressingly single.

Pop into John Lewis and ask one of those helpful men in a jacket and tie to test some with you 😂.

We have a metal frame bed, and when I put it together I put some copper slip (from Halfords) in between the two bits of metal where they bolt together. I have reapplied it when we have had to dismantle it for redecorating etc and that stops any creaking from the frame.

Iloveabaconbutty · 16/01/2023 09:57

I remember having to use blu-tac between the metal bits to try and reduce the creaking on one old metal-framed bed we had. It didn't work terribly well!

Try a solid futon bed, used to have one years ago and not a creak!!

@travellinglighter quite made my day, being depressingly single currently, I admire the naming conventions!
