Anal sex newbies

Quick follow up to a very recent post. As I said then I'm in a fairly new relationship with a wonderful man. I'm not in the first flush of youth (definitely not over the hill either!) but with not a lot of bedroom experience and wanting to make the most of the opportunity to catch up a bit! We've never talked about it but I'm curious about trying anal sex. I think he would be up for it too. How do I broach it? I'm quite shy about sex things generally. Any practical advice please. I know that lube is definitely required. Is a condom necessary/advisable?

My husband and I prefer anal sex and it’s our normal now for various reasons, we never use condoms and he has never had any kind of infection. Lube is vital, we have tried many brands and found one that we both like and now make sure we are always stocked up with it. I make sure I take psyllium husk supplements as it’s good for you and it also means I’m always clean back there. I never do any special prep. There are times it has gotten a little dirty but it’s few and far between, and it’s just a risk you are going to have to take.

@MrsBrollie I hope you don’t mind me asking, but if you are having regular anal sex, do you have issues with weakness down there? DH and I enjoy anal play from time to time, although he has only successfully penetrated me with his penis once - mostly fingers, buttplug etc - and I have found that I’ve got some issues with it not being as strong as before. Is this normal?

No issue with that at all, and we have plenty of anal penetration ( most days). Never experienced any form of leaking or incontinence, Like any muscle the sphincter needs to be trained, and as long as you don’t damage or tear it, it will eventually go back to normal. Start small and slow and work up!

OP, it really is worth exploring if you are both keen. So intense and intimate. Definitely explore with fingers and/or toys before going any further.
