I'm HPV, infected by a casual fling Angry

Can I have safe sex with my new partner and not give him HPV ? we would use condoms and not have oral. Do I just need to make sure his penis doesn't touch any of my genital area without a condom on ?

HPV is usually contracted Shortly after your first sexual encounter but it lays dormant. I'm taking it you've had a smear and yours is active? If active yes use protection but HPV can be contracted in any skin to skin contact. It's strange as it's classed as an std but isn't. I'd just be upfront with your partner.
I only found I had it from a smear but it only became active due to an operation I had. The doc I saw said most people have it anyways but most will clear it within a year. Bit different for us ladies if we also have cell changes.

Amongst older people who haven't been vaccinated sexually transmitted HPV is thought to be very common.

There's a big difference between latent and active HPV. If OP's HPV is in it's active stage (lasts up to 2 years usually) it'll be very difficult to prevent transmission. While a condom may help to some degree, it's not a failsafe.

If OP's partner really doesn't want to be infected, perhaps he could look into receiving a vaccination privately before any sexual contact occurs? Might be worth a conversation with a sexual health nurse. Jo's Cervical Cancer Trust is a really good source of information and support concerning HPV.
