Sex 3 weeks after birth

During my pregnancy I completely went off sex. However I've been craving it for the last few weeks! I had a second degree test which required stitches. I'm no longer sore but aware i should wait 4-6 weeks for it to heal. Has anyone had it as soon as 3 weeks without any problems?

I wouldnt , you are still healing that's why its advised too wait that amount of time .

crimsonlake · 12/08/2021 22:45

God, no way.

Imagine if you tear the stitches. You could be out of action for a lot longer.
Imagine how good it will be 6 weeks at the end of 6 weeks.

Let your body heal. Sex can wait, damage to your body and resulting pain will delay it anyway! Also, do you want to be in pain while caring for a baby and sleepless nights etc.

I felt exactly the same as you, last few weeks of pregnancy I was just too knackered but then after I was craving. I waited until around 7/8 weeks and even then with zero tears or grazes it still hurt a lot even going at an actual snails pace.

We did it at 3 weeks and all was fine and good to get back to it.

Appreciate all the comments, Thankyou! I will be honest, I presumed it was just a guideline and many people go ahead and do it sooner with no problems! I won't be now 🤣

My baby is now 8 weeks old and I first had sex at 3 weeks I had stitches but only for grazes and they had already healed and my bleeding had stopped and I felt back to my old self again we took it slow but for my personally i had no issues no pain or discomfort so if your feel ready then just go for it Smile

vanityfairsbackpage · 21/08/2021 11:42

It IS just a guideline, there’s no official time limit. Go for it when you feel ready but take it slow

Sillawithans · 12/09/2021 16:59

After my first I had stitches that dissolve. I had sex maybe 2 weeks after birth, no problems. I did my second baby 10 months after my first though.

inpixiehollow · 27/09/2021 23:01

Hi I had a second degree tear and had sex 2 days before 3 weeks post partum. It was fine. Just take it slow and feel free to stop if you are in pain/uncomfortable. NHS advice is whenever you feel ready. The '5/6 weeks' is a myth.

Why not ask him to perform oral on you. No penetration?

Christ that sounds grim. Licking your stitches Shock
NoHeavenNoMore · 29/09/2021 09:53

Yep, I had second degree tear and episiotomy, and we had sex 2 weeks and 3 days after I gave birth. I didn't want to wait any longer 🤷‍♀️
Stitches had fallen out tho. I think I have spritz for bitz to thank for that! All healed beautifully

Good luck and do it when you're ready

CarolineNightmare · 30/09/2021 20:25

Christ I’m amazed at some of your replies! I had a complex second degree tear and episiotomy, and couldn’t even walk or sit properly for two months. My lochia was also at least 6/7 weeks. Amazed at the idea of bleeding for less than 3!

Getbehindme · 30/09/2021 20:50

And wanting anyone near you as well!

mrssunshinexxx · 03/10/2021 23:53

The reason the guidance is 6 weeks is for the dinner plate sized wound ( where the placenta was) to all settle and heal
