Arthritis & sex life

Anyone here able to shed light on how arthritis (knee & ankle) affects a man's sex life? A man in his early 40's (almost 42 to be precise) on codeine & naproxen several times a day.

My guess would be:
Constant pain might put him off even wanting to have sex
Certain positions could be difficult for him during sex - even missionary position would put pressure on those joints affected
Pain, depending upon how bad it is could affect how long he is able to keep going (in one position)
Changing positions/ moving in bed could be painful and take longer than normal
Side effects of meds: possibly feeling sick, sleepy, dizzy etc
Have you asked him how it affects him, OP?

I'm on exactly the same medication, but have stopped naproxen as it was causing stomach problems. I also take a load of others for uncontrolled RA in pretty much all joints.

The medication doesn't cause any problems as such, everything is still in working order (sorry TMI), but being in constant pain is absolutely exhausting, so when the mind is more than willing, the body does let you down.

@Whatliesbeneath707 is spot on with positions. Ones that put pressure on joints will be a problem, but there will be ones that don't put too much pressure on, so for us, it was a matter of finding ones that work.
