This is a really weird question - in fact I don’t even know what I’m asking.

Ten years ago, there was a boyband around that I liked. I didn’t particularly fancy any of them (they were young and I wasn’t) but I liked their cheesy pop music.

Anyhow, the other day me and my friend were chatting about the band and she bought up a theory that I’d never heard of before in which two of the band mates were secretly in love with each other, were in a relationship and although it was highly suspected and supported by fans, they were forbidden from openly being together as it would ruin the band’s image. They were purposely kept apart in public by their management but apparently their secret, behind the scenes relationship lasted about 5 years.

I completely laughed it off at first but my friend was adamant by it was true and told me to go and look on YouTube as there were supposedly 100’s of videos about the guy’s relationship and made by fans who had been speculating about it.

I did watch some of the videos and it flicked a switch in me or something because now I can’t stop thinking about them together. As individuals I have never fancied either of them.....but watching the YouTube videos about their forbidden love (they aren’t sex videos lol) I can’t stop thinking about them and suddenly I’m finding them very hot!

I find myself keep watching the YouTube videos and whereas many of them make me feel sad that they weren’t allowed to be together, the majority of them just make me feel quite turned on by the thought of them having loving and sexual feelings towards each other.

I don’t know what’s going on with me!

Is this normal?! I’m having very frequent and arousing thoughts about them....

Is this some form of escapism?!

Broadly agree with comments made by @trancepants and @PaddlingLikeADuck on 17/4.

As an heterosexual man I find the idea of my hitting on some other guy extremely boring.

If my wife asked me to do it in front of her for her own pleasure, or a lover I had, I'd try and dissuade her, I'd say, "Are sure? That's the most boring thing in the world!"

Then if she insisted I maybe did it and feigned it. Though if I found out the other guy would be gay or bisexual I'd probably refuse. So nothing about the physical act itself, I think I could 'perform' it, but I wouldn't like to do it 'for real' (for real meaning doing it and enjoying it at the same time - I don't think I'd do that).

But I think I'd come out of the party as bored as I had joined it, unless by making some kind of 'transactional' arrangements I had for myself some other kind of reward for being in it.

So I applaud your fantasies but as far as I'm concerned I don't share the enthusiasm.

BTW I've no problem with any gays out there, they're accepted and all, it's just that isn't me.

I don't find other men attractive, but if my wife said this was a real turn on I wouldn't rule out doing it for her - the idea of doing something taboo to fulfil her fantasies could be appealing, given the right circumstances (e.g would probably need a few drinks first).

Hmm that's a tough one. You'd be making them do things they don't enjoy. But I suppose the transgression is part of the arousal? You might enjoy those CFNM parties which are basically all about humiliation of naked men.

I'm a bit technophobic but there's an interesting article from Metro which might come up if you Google CFNM. 120m hits on Google so a lot of people seem to be into it.

There is also the risk for the wife that their heterosexual husband, having been exposed to a gay sex experience and finding it satisfactory, would turn bisexual and start seeking out other men, to the detriment of the relationship with his wife. So be careful what you wish for. I don't think it's worth the risk.

And it's much easier for gay or bisexual men to find casual sex outside of marriage in men than it is for heterosexual men to find it in women, in my opinion.

So would the lady want to tip the scales in favour of the man only to live her fantasies for one day? I doubt it. I wouldn't if I was them. If I had that fantasy I'd keep it for myself, or only want to experiment with friends or random people with whom I don't have a long-term relationship I care about that may be broken.

Men don’t turn bisexual.

If he had a gay sex experience and enjoyed it then doesn’t that mean he was always bisexual but perhaps not willing to admit it to himself?

A poster upthread said he’d find the whole thing rather boring if he participated in kissing another guy, which is fine, that’s not what we are fantasising about.

We fantasise about men who find having sexual contact with other men to be the very opposite of boring 😂
