Sex with man with balanitis

My relatively new lover has recurrent candida balanitis affecting the tip of his penis & I have genital herpes. We have only used a condom so far (partly I think because he experiences pain during penetration without one) but we were beginning to think of if it will be possible to have unprotected sex. We are both clear of STIs other than mine and I am not looking to get pregnant. Essentially if he gives me thrush I am more likely in the long run to have cervical cell changes, and obv I'd rather not give him herpes. I don't know oa there is any way around this, if anyone has experience of this or similar?

I am no medic, and have no experience of balanitis, but I have had recurrent yeast/thrush/candida issues most of my life, mainly my feet, breasts while breastfeeding (and I can get a sharp pain in them as a warning sign my feet will break out) and vaginal thrush during pregnancy and on one other occasion. What I can say is it flares up when my diet is poor, too many carbs and too much sugar. The candida feeds off the sugar. Is he overweight or have diabetes? (I have had this problem when not overweight). Thrush is unpleasant, I don't know why you would want to risk it if he has an active case. From my limited knowledge abnormal cells is more related to warts, I have never heard of anything like that being a result of thrush.
Maybe get him to sort out his diet if the standard treatments are not doing the trick, but that is a whole lifestyle change.

There's no connection between thrush and cervical cell changes - that's HPV. I'd of thought his condition would be reasonably treatable with good hygiene and canestan cream. Has he been treated by GP?

We've looked into it and there is nothing wrong with his general health blood sugar etc. Seems just something he is prone to in that area. The pain issue is a significant one and latterly we haven't had sex at all because of it. I don't know if it is getting worse for him. He usually takes me from behind again unsure if that has any effect

Is his foreskin too tight causing this problem ?

Driytet · 23/01/2021 10:17

There is a foreskin issue I believe it is that the frulenulum string pulls his head tight when erect and inside a vagina causing pain. So this is at least part of the problem. I'm so frustrated!

circumcision maybe needed if a tight foreskin is making cleaning difficult and the build up of yeast infections , anyway it would most likley improve things for him .

till you are both able to sort things mutual masturbation is better then nothing .

🤮

It sounds like he will need circumcising. You will read some anti circumcision posts on here but it sounds like he needs to have it done and I actually love the look and feel of it. My DH was sore after it was done but after a few weeks he was fine. We celebrated with a weekend away and me wearing some very sexy lingerie for him (and me)

You can buy penis numbing creams that might help, but as others say circumcise would probably be the best way forward
