Painful sex while breastfeeding

I know that the hormone changes during breastfeeding can make sex uncomfortable but I’m now 8 months port partum and still can’t have sex properly :(

I don’t know if some of it is now psychological because I the discomfort has put me off but it just feels ‘odd’ inside, I feel like I can’t relax at all. I had a really good birth with no tears etc but it just isn’t getting any easier. We use lots of lube but it just seems to evaporate!

We’re trying to conceive baby 2 but it’s really not much fun and I get so anxious about it..my husband has always taken a while to finish as well so it’s not like we can have a quickie I know it’s going to be uncomfortable for a long duration. He said it feels tighter and I agree, it kind of feels like he can’t go as deep as he usually can or something. Maybe TMI but any advice / experiences would be appreciated!

I am planning on stopping breastfeeding when I get pregnant but wanted to try keep going for as much as possible incase it takes a few months to catch.

I found sex really painful when I was breastfeeding, so I spoke to my GP about it. She said its very normal, and due to much of the fluid in your body going straight to your breasts for milk, therefore not much left over for other body fluids! She did give me a cream to put on, I can't remember what it was called, and it did help, as I was quite dry down below. I hope this helps!
