Anal skin tag - yuk

15 replies

pleasetellmethereisacure · 05/01/2020 15:57

I know this is a gross thread and apologise now but my sex life is on hold. desperately seeking advice? I have a small skin tag from piles I endured few months ago. GP says nothing can be done but presume she means nothing can be done on the NHS. I need this bad boy gone!
How and where can I get this done in Northern Ireland?

@pleasetellmethereisacure

You can usually get them treated privately [and not at great cost] it just involves a small local and having it burned off [10 minutes or so]. The exact location may make it more difficult.

There are said to be self treatment lotions which might work - you can google them.

Unless I am missing something 100% obvious I cannot see [if it is anal and small] why it should interfere with your sex life though.

Thanks

I have tired googling it to find a place that can do it but only London that I can see.

Or you could try removing it at home with a tag band but I'm not sure how well it would work on sensitive areas

Thanks
I got an appointment in a private clinic this week who seem to think they can remove it so here's hoping!!

Be careful! Anal tags aren’t the same as skin tags and (as you say) are the shrivelled remnants of blood vessels which unfortunately cannot be removed as easily or safely as a skin tag growth. A skin tag clinic won’t do it and the stories I’ve read about diy banding or cutting have involved severe pain / blood loss / trips to a&e etc. Let us know how you get on as I’d love to find an easy way. Good luck x

Ok will do!
My appointment is later today. Yeah from research I have done it's not straight forward so they may send me away.

So just to update you @pamia I attended private health clinic today where doctor didn't seem to think it was a problem to get rid of thankfully!!
He froze skin tag with spray and said it should drop off but can take up to 4 weeks. It may take another appointment to freeze again if this hasn't worked then he would have to go down route of tag band thingy.
Anyway fingers crossed all goes to plan and the bloody thing falls off itself in next few weeks Confused

Had years with these, had surgery, used every cream, freeze product you name it & nothing works. I found a product I think called tagbands on Amazon & they actually work! Google them! Lots of people having good results & it's says it's suitable for anal tags. I I used a antiseptic cream & it took about a week & although some don't completely fall off they make them much smaller. I did take neurofen for pain but it was worth it.

hi OP how did you get on with your bum tag freezing?! Hope the results were worth it. I've just been to my doctor and they've injected my internal piles but wouldn't do anything for the exterior one as its a tag. do you rate your doctor? Care to share where you went and hw much you paid all in?
xxx

EZA15 · 22/11/2020 18:43

@pleasetellmethereisacure how did you get on?

MisterT373 · 22/11/2020 21:28

Three words i never expected to see together
Bum tag freezing

OverThinkingUnderDoing · 23/11/2020 11:54

I didn’t have one on my bum but did have one on my groin. I (on advice from MN I believe) painted it with clear nail varnish everyday for a week and it turned black and dropped off.

Is it on your actual anus though? If it is I might be a bit more cautious.

PinotGrigioGirl · 11/01/2021 22:24

I had three lots of surgery under general anaesthetic to treat internal piles and several external anal skin tags. This was done by a colorectal surgeon. You should never put bands on anal skin tags I was told, probably because of the blood supply in the area. If you do have anal tags surgically removed the recovery is extremely painful, the area will swell and you can end up with more skin tags! After three operations over three years, I’m looking much the same as before I started. Any colorectal surgeon will tell you that you’re likely to develop more tags, particularly if you’re prone to piles.
My ops were done privately, I think they do them on the NHS but only for more severe cases. From my experience it’s nit worth the pain and disappointing results.

@PinotGrigioGirl thank you
