Question about sex and ovulation.

Poasibly TMI... Hi I'm wondering if I can ask some advice please. So i started my period on Sunday 19th May. And finished on the Thursday. Saturday night my partner arrived and we had sex. We had sex again twice sunday morning. On the Sunday I had a few streaks of blood in my clear egg white discharge but i thought maybe we had got a bit rough. Sunday night we had sex again and when I put my hands down there there was masses of clear egg white discharge. Now my question is was that his ejaculate as I thought that was supposed to be white and runny? This was clear and looked like egg whites or was this me ovulating or arousal from sex I've never experienced so much before and so close to finishing my period so I'm all confused. I have been trying to plot it on a calendar and according to that i shouldn't ovulate until about the 2nd June. Any help you can provide would be very helpful. Thank you :-)

We also had sex the day i started my period. Surely I couldn't have gotten pregnant then as I passed the point of fertilisation? That was another thought that crossed my mind...

I will be brief. Ejaculate can vary imensely for a variety of reasons.

You can’t depend on a public forum for this. Please go and talk to a pharmacist today. And while you are there purchase a very large box of condoms.

Thanks for your reply. I think I will book an appointment with my gp in the next week. We don't need condoms as we have been actively trying but I'd come to the conclusion that when he comes home at the weekends due to being in army training during the week it's the wrong time and he always misses ovulation. Was just a bit shocked that 3 days after I finished my period that I could have possibly have been ovulating.

As long as you are happy if you are pregnant, that’s fine. I was just concerned for you. Best to get these things checked out though. Sadly our bodies don’t run like a digital timer.

How long are your cycles?

For a 28 day cycle it generally goes like this:
Day 1: period starts (19th May here)
Day 3-10: period ends (varies a lot obviously - yours ended (23rd May here)
Day 14: Ovulation
Day 28: last day of cycle (next period starts following day

I tend to see a change in cervical mucus about day 13-15. It’s not vast quantities however and for me only really noticeable when wiping after using the loo.

If your cycle is 28 days and you ovulate in the usual place (not a given) then you wouldn’t have been anywhere near ovulation on day 8 of your cycle. You say “egg white discharge” but generally that’s used to describe the discharge around ovulation.

What you’re describing could be:

• Male ejaculate (can be more watery and clear at time)
• female ejaculate (although tends to be thinner and more watery)
• lubrication
• normal discharge

Are you tracking your cycles in app or using an ovulation predictor kit?

Is he home every weekend? Eggs need to be fertilised within about 24 hours of ovulation but sperm can survive inside you for about 5 days
