Hi all. Genuine question. I've never done any anal play but have a new partner who wishes to explore this.

I'm fine, we have a good relationship etc etc. But I want to know, are you supposed to do some cleaning thing so fingers etc don't smell of poo etc.

There won't be any poo there, unless you actually need a poo, because it doesn't come down to that part of the bowel until it's just ready to come out, which is when your brain gets the signal to go to the toilet. If you're not feeling anything like that (and you may wish to time it til after you or they have been), you can just have a quick shower or wash the area beforehand in order to feel more confident. You don't have to jump up and wash hands or anything else immediately afterwards so long as you do remember to do so. It will be a lot cleaner than you might think. A little lube might make it easier, and try not to wipe those germs over the end of the urethra. Pee afterwards to prevent cystitis. Good luck, it's my fave!

Just keep clean as normal, maybe shower before if you feel self-conscious, use a finger to clean deeper. You can buy a 'douche' which helps you clean further up but I've no experience with this.

Although my boyfriend says there isn't, surely there must still be a poo smell no matter how much you clean? I wouldn't worry about it too much though.

I'd also just be careful of what you eat. If I have a dodgy stomach then it's a no go. Also, as I'm sure you're aware, lube is really important and you can 'train' yourself so you gradually get bigger. Lovehoney have some good anal training kits.

If you put enough penises and fingers into anuses, you will eventually touch some poo.

BUT -- if the thought if a tiny amount of poo freaks your partner out, maybe they shouldn't be doing anal sex in the first place.

Anal is fun at the time but not something you'd want a lot of, in my (limited) experience.
