Ok, here goes (name change for obvious reasons). I'm a 44 year old woman, married (very happily), 2 children, pretty good sex life. Never had an orgasm.

Usually this never bothers me, but recently I think I'm going through a peri-menopausal constantly aroused state and I cannot stop thinking about and wanting sex. DH is very obliging but it's slightly freaked out I think. So I figured perhaps a vibrator would be the way forward.

I never (very rarely) masturbate as I find it wholly unsatisfactory and basically don't have the patience. I've never used a vibrator. Tell me what I should be looking for, what type is best, will it help me finally have an orgasm, where do I get them from?

Firstly I would say that if the goal is to have an orgasm, you need to understand your own body more and try masturbating more frequently.

My partner was aged 35 when we met and had never orgasmed. She had a rigid Catholic upbringing which made masturbation into a sin. Ok. I’m only a little younger than you and I got my first one about three years ago.
I would say get a good quality silicone one that’s well designed. You get what you pay for. And make sure it’s rechargeable from the mains, not batteries.
I have three. I have a clitoral vibrator, the jimmyjane form 2. That’s what I’d recommend for you. That’s my favourite.
