Has anyone experienced this?

Yesterday me and my bf were doing the deed and as my orgasm started to build I got a binding headache on the right side of my head and behind my eye.
The same thing happened in the evening too.
I've just had given myself an orgasm and even though there wasn't a blinding pain, I've defo got a little ache.

I did google it last night but some of the things seemed quite worrying so I stopped. This has never happened before.

Any advice?

for God's sake don't google "blinding headache".

My advice would be, go 48 hours without an orgasm and see if you get it, then go from there.

I had this once last year-sudden, agonising and scared the crap out of me. It hasn't happened again--if it does, I would go to the gp.

Happened to my OH 8 years ago just as he orgasmed, he went to hospital panicking, had CT, spinal tap etc, they couldn't find anything and he never had it again. Weird. A member of his family had recently collapsed and died from a brain aneurysm so all the worst scenarios went through our heads. Doc said it was just one of those weird things.

I do if it's er a quick intense solo thing. Has often been the case. Never for the real thing.

It feels intense and migraine like but only lasts a couple of minutes in my case. I assumed just One Of Those Things.

The one last night lasted quite a while, I had to take paracetomal to get to sleep.

Googling wasn't my friend, one of the reasons was a bleed on the brain! Hence I came to mumsnet Smile

I'm going to the hospital for a check up anyway (new partner) so will keep an eye on it and if it happens again, mention it to them.

Thunderclap headaches when orgasming is a thing, coital ceohalgia I think it is called.

My Mum suffers with it, she spent ten days in hospital thinking she'd had a stroke! It does need to be diagnosed by ruling out other causes though so do get it checked out.

HarryTheHippo · 20/02/2017 22:57

Ug. I already have a long list of things I thinj this ome will have to wait.

ShelaghTurner · 20/02/2017 23:01

I thought this was just me. Get the odd headache at other times, no big deal etc but really sharp ones after orgasming sometimes. Lasts maybe 15 minutes. I never think of it any other time so it clearly doesn't bother me that much!

RooDaisy · 20/02/2017 23:03

make your poor Mum. I'm going to keep an eye on it and if need be go to the doctors. It was really, really painful and a total contrast to what else was going on. Very weird

I had this last year. I thought I was having a stroke for the symptoms I got afterwards aswell as the headache. But went to the gp who suggested it was a thunder clap headache! Was very scary at the time though I had no idea what was happening!

I've had one occasionally - really behind the eyes as you say.

I put it down to the intense feelings. I don't monitor myself in the middle of these things but I'm sure I hold my breath when I orgasm like that and it can't be good for my brain to be starved of oxygen. Blush

This would make sense for me too as I tend to really tense up in the build up, and I seem to carry a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders.

I'm a toe curler too so occasionally I get a foot cramp.

God I must look a delightful picture in the moment...poor DP. Grin

Not had it for a while but this happened to me, went to the GP (who had a student in) who said it sounded like a migraine.

LemonBreeland · 12/03/2017 21:14

A friend of mine had an orgasm migraine a couple of years ago. She went to A&E as the pain was so terrible. Apparently it is a thing. She has been luvky enough for it not to happen again though.
