After reading about some porn on here I wandered off for a look. I can't even remember what website it was now but I know it wasn't Pornhub. Anyway, it seems to have downloaded some 'making money' bollocks which every once in a while opens a fresh tab playing an advert. This happens even if I'm not actually touching the keyboard. The tab with porn is now closed. I've run 4 scans with up-to-date software but it doesn't find anything. Anyone know how to get rid of the pop-up?

Clear history, cookies, cache, that might help

It might just be a dodgy browser extension and not a virus on your computer.

Ha! It's just happened right now. It said 'Clientsfromhell.net' in the address bar. I closed the tab. I've cleared my browsing history.

I get the same on shush.net which is a tv streaming site. They are just pop ups.

Well, how do we get rid of pop-ups then? It's driving me nuts. Do I need a better Ad-blocker?

First, use CCleaner and run that (free), then download Malwarebytes (free trial for 14 days), which should clear out all the pop up shite.

Does it just pop up when you're on the porn site? I know a few do have pop-up ads but only when you're on their site?

Which browser are you using? I would:

  • look in the extensions and delete any that you don't recognise
  • run a anti virus scan
  • run spybot (free anti malware tool) to see if it has put anything nasty on your system

I had something similar at work (not from porn I hasten to add) when I inadvertently downloaded a file. It was a bugger to get rid of it.
