How many of you use lube?

Sorry, probably TMI but I do get quite wet most of the time but at times (like last night for instance) I could really do with a bit of help I think

So, is lube a regular 'took' fur you, or have you never needed it? Is it 'normal' to need it? I'm late 20s btw!

If you've found this page in search of lubes that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best lubricants useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

I started using it after the birth of my first child (section), it just didn't feel the same iykwim. I was late 20s

Not every time. But yeah, it isn't uncommon to need it

BearFeet · 06/01/2016 12:53

Yes use it when needed. Liquid silk is mentioned on here to be a good one to get.

FatRun · 06/01/2016 21:09

Use it on and off. Keep a bog standard bottle in bedside drawer!

Eekaman · 06/01/2016 21:32

Yup, we use it on occasion too. :)

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 06/01/2016 21:44

Yep, all the time. Not 'needed' as such, just makes it nice and glide-y. We've recently switched to coconut oil though, which works just as well as Play and doesn't leave sticky residue.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 06/01/2016 21:44

And tastes nicer.

And has health benefits!

Drew64 · 07/01/2016 10:04

We do most of the time.
We've found a silicone based one to be the best.
The Durex and Ann Summers ones are not nice and tend to be sticky so we avoid those.
Just a plain silicone base one with little or no taste to it.
I always get looked at oddly when I taste the tester bottles in the shops, lol

pocketsaviour · 09/01/2016 12:02

Yes I always need it. I just don't produce very much naturally - some women don't.

bonzo77 · 09/01/2016 12:05

Have gone through phases of needing it especially when on the pill. Now have a copper coil and no need at all.

grimandtonic · 13/01/2016 01:29

Need to with my husband but never had problems previously. He's a bit lazy and rubbish on the foreplay though. That said I 'be noticed personally things are wetter now I'm on the coil instead of hormone contraceptives, so perhaps it's not all his fault

BarleysFiddle · 14/01/2016 21:21

Yep, use lube all the time. Used to use play but I didn't like is. I use sweet almond oil now. You get out in Holland And Barrett. I much prefer the texture/sensation from it. DH hasn't complained about it either.

PrimeDirective · 16/01/2016 21:55

Yes most of the time we do. Water based only - sliquid or lovehoney

dementedpixie · 16/01/2016 21:56

Have never used it. Am 42

MTPurse · 16/01/2016 22:07

Vaseline is your answer. I/we use loads of it, it is part and parcel of our sex life. We have tried all sorts of expensive ann summers, durex lubes but Vaseline is the best lube.

It doesn't have to be 'Vaseline' brand you can get a tub of petroleum jelly from pound land.

PrimeDirective · 16/01/2016 22:46

Vaseline and silicone lube are not good for the vagina. They are really hard to wash off. Stick to water based lube.

MrsDmitriTippensKrushnic · 16/01/2016 23:18

Also not advisable to mix vaseline and condoms - damages the latex and makes them less effective!

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 16/01/2016 23:23

Coconut oil? Wow, you really can use that stuff for everything Grin

LBOCS2 · 16/01/2016 23:33

Only when breastfeeding, although I don't know if that wasn't because my sex drive took a massive nosedive and it was as a result of that.

imwithspud · 17/01/2016 01:13

Yes we do, not every time but sometimes it's helpful. It's pretty normal to I think.

Seeyounearertime · 17/01/2016 01:23

i can highly recommend Superdrugs flavoured lubes, they're cheap, highstreet and they're the best we've used at various "sports" as it were, he strawberry smells divine.

flowerbucket · 17/01/2016 01:24

We use it occasionally for something extra (usually one of the novelty types - flavour/tingle etc) but have never needed it as such.
