I'm not sure if this is a silly question or not...

but I have only ever slept with my husband, he has only ever slept with me. 100% sure on this, he's never even KISSED anyone else. I have been starting a relationship with a female friend (with DHs permission) and I just wanted to ask if I should get an STI check before anything sexual happens? Or is it not needed in my situation? I'd like to be able to tell her conclusively there are no issues.

If you have sufficient trust, you don't need an STI check under those circs. However, your female friend might, depending on her history...

Your love life sounds very intriguing!

MonkeyOnTheCar · 09/07/2015 13:55

Thankyou. I didn't think I did but best to ask.

It's really not been upto now. I've been with him and monogamous for many, many years!

I think what's intruiging is precisely that it's a big step away from where you've been thus far! I hope it goes really well for all of you

GinUpGirl · 09/07/2015 14:31

I don't think you need an STI test either? Good luck with your arrangement, I hope everyone involved stays happy.

MonkeyOnTheCar · 09/07/2015 15:09

I've always been very drawn to women and openly class myself as bisexuality but never met anyone that I would feel comfortable taking the next step with, before now.

It's all very new and tentative but DH is very understanding of it and I just wanted to be prepared with answers if the situation arose.

Thanks for the replies!

I think it is only fair to her that you get a test anyway. You might trust dh but it os unfair for you to take his word gor it.

velourvoyageur · 10/07/2015 11:49

Do people get STD tests before they sleep with new people. What if it's not planned?

have a fab time OP, I doubt you need to bother with the test but if it makes you feel at all better about things then get it done, not a silly thing to do.

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 10/07/2015 11:51

velour I would always get one before unprotected sex with someone new.

gatewalker · 10/07/2015 11:58

Actually, I would do a test - just out of principle.

All the best for your new adventures!

Revolutionary · 10/07/2015 12:34

I'd get a test. I've had several this year. Its not embarassing and its only fair.

PoppyBlossom · 10/07/2015 12:37

Yep velour, if your active sexually then you should have tests. It's good to get them done just as a general mot.

MonkeyOnTheCar · 11/07/2015 18:45

Thanks for the replies. We talked and are both getting tested for peace of mind for all involved.
