Any opinions. Looking for schools for ds, he is a bright sporty boy. His teacher suggested this school. Does anyone have any experiences.

I think anything in the 230's is probably safe. Last year the cut off was 223 and the previous year was 227. My son attained 229 this year - I think he has 50/50 chance albeit he scored the highest in his small prep school - but the reality is none of us know as we don't know if the exam was pitched harder or easier this year which of course means its difficult to know if for e.g 229 (81%) was good or mediocre score. I suspect it will be a close call for many on the actual cut off line (whatever that may be) and then its all about the distance the crow flies etc. etc. on those with level scores. I guess we may learn more at the invited to the upcoming open days for students who passed the exam to see the school once again. Lets see. Good luck all.

Hi my DS got his 11+ marks from Qe boys Barnet yesterday, can anyone please tell me what the score is out of as all it says is a score of 244 , I've been told that some kids have got in the 260's and 70's as its out of 280
Worked and anxious thanks

Dad rocks. The score is out of 280, though as its standardised it's not as straightforward as that. As said above, the last score to be admitted on allocation day last year was 228 and down to 223 off the waiting list. It is impossible to say what the score will be this year as nobody (including the school) have no idea how many high scoring boys will have used the exam as a mock and have other schools as their first choice. What I would say is that any boy with a mark over 230 should feel cautiously confident. The general feeling at the moment is that the exam (particularly the maths) was very difficult this year, maybe this will bring the mark for admittance down?

That isn't possible if it is standardised. The difficulty of the exam is irrelevant.

Is there any point listing QE boys as our first choice on the CAF, if my son has achieved a score of 221 ? As it looks like the merit has gone really high and there are numerous boys who have attained relatively higher score this year. Suggestions please !

@Dadrocks, @anothermakesthree, @Sweet95 any mock tests you can suggest for QE?
