DS's favourite subject is Biology and in all the tests they've donethe last year he has A.However in the end of yr test he got a 7B which he was a bit disappointed with.
He has brought his paper home and browsing through it I notice that there is an error in adding up the marks which has cost him 2 out of 75 marks

Also he is unsure why a couple of answers were wrong and has to do exam corrections tonight
Why is it necessary to digest protein beforeit can be used for growth and repair ?(1 mark)
(He put that protein needs to be digested to form amino acids) marked wrong)
Give 2 effects of alcohol which would affect an athlete's performance (2 mks)
(he put 1 slow down reactions 2 more difficult to run in a straight line and so may veer off to the side and got 1 out of 2 marks))

Could anyoneshed light on why they are wrong .Many thanks

It may have been a very prescriptive marks scheme (certainly the case if it was a SATs paper).

Protein --> amino acids may be a big vague. I think he would need to say that protein is too big to be absorbed into the bloodstream so it needs to be broken down into amino acids which are much smaller and can be absorbed.

As for the alcohol one - reaction time would have got him the one mark. I would suggest a long-term effect of alcohol consumption for the other one, such as putting on weight.
