I was planning to give ds1 £2 each day, which I know is on the stingy side. But it is plenty to buy a main meal and a dessert. If he wants to drink something other than water, he will have to go without dessert or use some of his own money.

He says his mates are all getting at least £3 each.

Hmm

£2.50 and a pack lunch on a wednesday as its choir practise and they don't have time to queue.
thats £10.00 per week which is adequate for :
a juice/water
fresh fruit salad/yogurt
a portion of soup and a roll
or
lasagne/curry
or
a wrap/sandwich
we were cunningly advised by the school aong these lines.

My DH was given his lunch money for the week on a Monday. He'd buy a case of Coke and keep it in his locker, flogging cans at break time. He made a fortune, plenty to cover lunch costs and treats!!
Unfortunately for us his entreprenuerial (sp!) streak has not lasted.
