Hello, can anybody give some insight into the best secondary schools for autistic children in the Lambeth area or close by? I’ve been doing my research and I’m either finding it hard to find recent reviews/feedback for autistic children or not hearing good things at all by hear say. My son will be starting year 7 next year and has low to mid support needs. Although he’s improved over the years, he still struggles a bit with communication and not getting his way which can lead to the occasional outburst but he almost always apologises after realising his behaviour has been unacceptable. He’s takes accountability and does really well with the correct guidance in terms of his class work. He’s a very smart and creative boy and although his current school has been lovely, I don’t think they’ve pushed him enough academically. He’s very capable but just needs the right support system.
So far, I’ve currently looked at Vanguard, Lansdowne, Platanos College and London Nautical but again not quite sure. It would be great to hear testimonials from parents whose children have an EHC plan or need SEN support that go to these schools.
Are your children happy there? Are they getting the support they need?
