Requesting a review for Biology GCSE mark? Can any Biology teachers advise?

Thinking of requesting a marking review for my DD’s Biology mark. Having looked at grade boundaries I think she’s 1 mark off an 8. She wants to do Biology A level.

I’m just unsure whether to ask because yesterday she had to sign for a Physics review because it was 1 mark off but no form for a Biology review. Physics is a move from a 5 to a 6.

Her Biology score is 119 (AQA)

It is definitely worth it. She is only one mark off so the chance if going down is minimal. The school may have decided they would pay for physics but not bio but if you are happy to pay yourself you can ask them to sort it for you. I think if the grade goes up you dont have to pay. You can also ask for the paper (this is free) and ask if a teacher at the school would look at it for you to decide if it is likely to go up if money is an issue.

Do it. About a third of reviews of marking result in a grade change. If you have the money, do it. Most schools will encourage it when you’re 1 mark off the next grade. At our school they will approve requests if you’re up to 3 marks off.
