St Mary's is a Catholic school and prioritises admission to DC who are at specific schools or live in certain parishes; beyond that other Catholic DC so if you are not Catholic your DC will be lower down the list.

They are also on opposite sides of Chesterfield so distance for admission may be a factor – presumably one of them is nearer for you?

St Mary's has a much better P8 score if that is important to you. I have never heard anyone say students are different but I don't livevery near to Chesterfield tho I am in Derbys.

I have family whose dc go to st Mary’s. All three are/were happy there and the ones who have done exams got really good results. As far as I can see the down side is that it’s a Catholic school so if you aren’t catholic that’s not a great thing and that friendships are more difficult (for the parents) as the dc are from such a large area. So there’s driving them about all over the place.

I don’t even know if they do extra curriculars after school as my nephews use the school bus so they could never do things after school.
