Hi - My DD starts high school in September and she needs a new bag. What's trending amongst your year 7s and 8s?

Tote bags from places like River Island and Ted Baker.

Black Nike rucksacks are the go to here as tote bags are not allowed. I think it varies by school so best to go and see what is the standard bags. We kept yr 6 bag for 1st week and then ordered online one we were confident on what would be wanted

And Longchamp La Pliage (but probably fake).

SuperGinger · 09/07/2026 18:41

We just got a black Eastpak

Large longchamp

Don't buy her one, let her go into town and choose one with friends

Around here it’s all Kankens (have to be real!) with accessories like badges, keychains, patches etc.

Black Nike rucksacks around here as well.

And Longchamp La Pliage (but probably fake).

I catch the train home from work with a bunch of private school girls (two different schools, maybe 15 or so of them) and every.single.one has the navy pillage(!)

Depends on your child really

my eldest was happy with and would choose a plain black rucksack

youngest would view owning a plain black rucksack as social suicide and she should probably never go back to school

it seems to vary a bit by school and cohortt. My DD has had a black Eastpak since Y7.
