I had a post further down regarding moving our dd to the local secondary as she is very unhappy. That decision is now all but made and we are on the waiting list as sadly her year group is full. We are second on the list currently, but this could obviously go down as well as up. DD is current year 7 and in a perfect world would be offered a place right now so she could find her feet before starting year 8 a fresh, however, I know at this point in the year that this is very unlikely to happen.
however, I just wondered if anyone had any positive stories for in year wait lists they could share? I know it’s very school / luck / area dependent, but we’re very keen to move and so the wait feels painful. Is there any chance of a year 8 place for September? Anyone who knows when the most movement is in this age group etc? The data for the year group shows that around 8-10 places usually become available a year and being current 2nd place means I’m hopeful we’ll get a place at some point in the year, and hopefully near the start.
if a student was planning to leave to start a new school in September for example, would the school offer that place for September, before September if that makes sense? I’m just wondering how likely it is that the people finish the year off before moving and whether that means we need to make our peace with the fact we probably won’t hear anything now, but might very early September?
