Please share suggestions of where to buy sixth form clothes for girls. We need a formal tailored suit matching jacket and skirt

That's difficult.

I'd look for a really good jacket in whatever fabric & style your dd is comfortable with, and match with several maxi skirts in dark solid colours.

Are trouser suits allowed?

My DD got two jackets from Next, one black and one navy. Then paired them with a variety of skirts and trousers from different shops. It's fine IME if they aren't a matching set but look like they are. Her shirts were mainly from vinted.

There are loads of options if you search for “skirt suit” on Google.

Unless there are very smart guidelines, I’d order some of the £30-£60 options from Amazon and see what you think. There are different shapes of jackets and different lengths of skirts to choose from.

I think it’ll be hard to find skirt suits in shops to try on, unless you can go high budget and get to a big city where shops like Reiss and Hobbs will have options.

Stradivarius have some nice blazers. I like the ones with the 3/4 sleeves.

Just watch the skirts as there's a few which are definitely too short!
