Is it unusual not to be asked about alternatives at appeal?

Had my stage 2 appeal. One question I heavily prepped for was “what will you do if the appeal is not upheld?”.
I explained in my case I submitted and when I presented that due to safe guarding reasons my child is unable to attend the allocated school. So I really expected that question.
The appeal was a whirlwind, went by in a flash. I only realised after that, that question wasn’t asked.
Slightly concerned that I didn’t cover that (or that they didn’t ask). I didn’t want to come away feeling I hadn’t answered/covered everything and that’s on my mind now.
Is that strange? X

I don’t remember being asked that question. Have you declined the place you were offered?

Is there a reason you heavily prepped for that question? What made you expect it?

it doesn’t seem odd to me that they didn’t ask because presumably you will use another school or home educate. How many more answers can there be to that question?

I am not an expert but surely (based on appeals at the school I worked at) the appeal is just listening to your reasons why the appealed-for school should let you in (and why it should not, from the school)? I don't think it concerns itself with what you will do if the answer is no. If the LA has offered a place at a school then you either accept that, accept a place at another school with space, or HE?

All my research kept flagging this as a common question!

No, as I was told to accept to stay in the system. But explained in my appeal that I did that under the LA guidance but that my child would be unable to attend there (and obviously the reason why).
Reassuring you weren’t asked either

Yes, all true. Just my research showed different. Just overthinking it all!
