Any thoughts on Stretford Grammar after a waiting list offer?

My daughter sat the late sitting of 11+ and we've just been offered a place from waiting list for Stretford grammar but I don't know much about it and not sure we can look round at this stage so just wondering if anyone who has kids there can share their thoughts?

We were a bit sprung by the whole 11+ process (hence late sitting!) and live next to Sale grammar so had done the exam thinking nearest school best but hadn't realised how crazy the whole process is compared to when I was at school in the area. I'm tempted as it's much nearer still than current school we've accepted but feel bit nervous we've never looked round so if anyone can help I really appreciate it.

Stretford Grammar is an amazing school and I would definitely be accepting their offer. My daughter went there, lots of her friends were at Sale Grammar which is also very good, but the pastoral care at Stretford beats it hands down. You can DM me if you want any other info.

Which school have you accepted?

Stretford is a wonderful school - I have children who attend now and an older one who also went there. Gets great results but also very nurturing with a real community feel.. Lots of kids from Sale too from my experience. Feel free to message me as well

Thankyou Peacy. We've just accepted so hopefully she makes some good tram friends and enjoys! I think it's just the unknown but helps everyone has been so positive...

It’s a brilliant school but very sadly lost its headteacher last month following a road traffic accident. He was amazing by all accounts.

Great! I am sure she will make friends very quickly. The school do a really good job of helping the children settle in. They do a residential at the very beginning of year 7 too which is brilliant for them. Just ask if you have any questions.

It's been devastating for the whole community. The outpouring of support and the way the staff are looking after the children is testament to what a wonderful man he was.

Absolutely tragic. I know he was loved by all.

He was a wonderful man. He knew every child in that school by name. Absolutely tragic.
