Maidstone grammar school for girls

My daughter got a place in Maidstone grammar school for girls. We live in East London and we were thinking to move to Otford as compromise. Anyone who made the same choice? Or similar? What do you think? I need some help

Otford is a nice place to live. MGGs is a great school. Lots of girls will definitely travel in (as they do for lots of the grammars).

I would have thought that most of the Otford girls who passed the 11+ will go to Weald or TGS (both in Tonbridge). Or the Weald Sevenoaks campus. So Otford might be tricky in terms of making local friends.

The key will be the transport options from Otford to MGGs. Train to Maidstone Barracks? Direct bus?

We live in London so it was impossible for us to take a place in a grammar with a strong carchment area.
We thought to move to Otford because there is a direct train to Maidstone east but we are still close to London to commute. I know people in London take the place at MGGS and move to Kent so I was looking for people who experienced it and the area they have chosen.

Otford is a great village with a buzzing cafe culture, lots of sports clubs and station not too far from village centre .

Have you looked at Kemsing ? The station is a drive from the centre or Otford is a short drive. There is a footpath between one end of Kemsing and Otford station.

Yes I look into it but the commuting seems to be worst. Thanks for your suggestions

Hello!
We live in Bexley, but did not pass Bexley test and passed Kent & Medway and still have no grammar school place. I have applied to Maidstone just now and hope for a later offer.
There is a "home to school" coach from Bexley to Maidstone Grammar Girls and apparently 11 kids from this area will start this year. Coach costs around £200 per month but goes straight to school so you don't have to worry about public transport delays. They may be able to adjust bus stops slightly depending on where the kids live. Have a look at their route and perhaps speak to the company as this may give you more options as to where to move. Good luck!

P.s. lots of kids from Bexley travel to Chatham, Holcombe and Rochester grammars, Maidstone I think is a new addition but definitely lots of parents live here, Bexley, Dartford, Erith, Belvedere, Woolwich, and I often see the children spill out of coaches in the afternoon. 5 boys from my daughter's class will start Holcombe this year and take the coach.
