Experiences of Maida Vale School and local secondary alternatives

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with Maida Vale School on Saltram Crescent? I’d really appreciate hearing honest views: the good, the bad, and anything in between. Just moving to the area and looking for any info. Views on alternatives are also very much appreciated. DD is not into science or maths but more creative, photography and psychology. Younger one is more science-y.

Particularly interested in both Sixth Form and Year 7.

Thanks so much in advance

No personal experience but someone suggested Maida Vale to me as a good school.

Would you consider the tube journey to Highbury and Islington? I have friends with artsy children at NBH Canonbury. They really enjoy the arts department there. I've heard some fun stories from their kids about doing sculpture in the garden with a visiting artist! I believe they offer Year 7 to Sixth Form and have a good STEM offering too.

It is a very unique school for sure. The question is why is Cognita not rebranding it and investing into it like it is doing with other schools. This looks like the school will be closed in not too distant future. They seem to be reshaping their assets increasing the value of some whilst extinguishing the light in others. A parent I spoke to will be moving their child out of that school due to various issues. One teacher on here reached out and told me they left last summer due to high number of Sen students not being supported and as a result so much disregulation. Remember these school are private equity backed!

They have re-branded NBH Hampstead into Alleyns. And now there’s a sixth form offering which hasn’t been there before. Alleyns is
much more academic though.

It is a bit far away and I heard NBH has problems with discipline. Not sure
how true this is though.
