Hello we are relocating from Asia, and it would be very helpful to understand how diverse or not Princethorpe, in Midlands, is for a Year 7 intake and in school generally. ANy other feedback positive or otherwise is very helpful too

Really good I think. They observe Catholic practices but are very open and, whilst reflecting predominantly white local intake, my DC has friends from other EU countries- some turnover seen- as well as further afield. Notable when we looked around that more prefects etc. have been black than I expected (I am not white). We lived in Asia previously and kids attended Tanglin. It’s never going to be that good, but it is a lovely well balanced school with a really visionary head IMHO.

Thank you @Fasterthan40 this is helpful. We are West African and my older son if off to Rugby School. I need to get a school for my daughter and Princethorpe sits at the right price point. However, I am really concerned about diversity as she will be just 11. If she was older and more confident, I would be more relaxed. I schooled in the UK but I only came when I was 16 so it was very easy for me to assimilate and make friends. I wonder if Princethorpe will at least be welcoming?

I would really recommend. Only issue may be transport depending where you are based. Would judge that both of my DC’s black friends at the school are also west African with very high expectations (judging from parents’ evenings and chat) and they seem very happy and integrated into the school. Would say that some other local schools seem to have socialising and academic expectations divided more along racial lines (my son’s Kurdish friend at another school has very much been put into the chess club line up). I’d call up and arrange a tour if you can- my husband had to fly back from Asia a few months ahead when we were moving home so that he could scope out schools etc.

Thank you so much for responding. This is very helpful and transparent. Yes we plan a visit in a few weeks and we now have to find and. pick a house half way between Rugby school and Princethorpe 😆. Thanks again

possibly worth contacting Princethorpe school bus company to work out best locations. https://princethorpe.vectare.co.uk/cookie_add/?next=/ and then you can cross map with Rugby buses (or will your son board?)
