Waiting list tiffin: When does their place get sent to you?

Just bracing myself for a possible wait list situation: If your child doesn’t get into Tiffin and at 5pm Mon you get an email presumably saying they have their second place school, how long do you have to wait to get an email from Tiffin with their waiting list place?

I think it completely depends! In our case we got a letter on or slightly after offer day saying their score and that it was highly likely that they would be offered a place before Easter. They were offered a place before that but I can’t remember exactly when. They were only 1 mark less than the last offered place so I guess that admissions knew they would likely get a place based on prior years.

Thanks for this :) I think I just need to explain to my child that if they get placed in the local school tomorrow we may get another email in the next couple of days which will indicate if they are at a place on the waiting list that may mean a place for them at Tiffin… I suppose they will only contact people who have a chance of getting a place and if we hear nothing by the end of the week they are too low down the list.

I think you will get told your score whatever it is if you don’t get a place. It was a few years ago for us so the process might have changed. If you look on elevenplusforum there will be a lot of info relating to last year’s waiting list.

yes the Tiffin WL along with other WL keeps moving until mid Sept as some dc don’t turn up during first week of term, you need to get on the elevenplusexams.co.uk forum Surrey page - they have set up an allocations page so people can track when WL places are offered for what scores.

Hi Op, did you hear back? Wrote got waitlisted and are outside of catchment so likely to not be prioritised. Are you within the local /designated area?

Yes, we are in the priority area and I got an email this afternoon with his waiting list number.

My son was in waitlist number 35 at Tiffin School and today we got an offer from school and accepted the offer. Best of luck to others.
