Can anyone recommend any good revision guides for GCSE? I can find guides for A-levels but not for GCSE.

Found quite a few with a quick search. Some are more general than specifically AQA but not expensive so probs worth a look to see if they are useful?

Sorry mean to post pic but couldn;t do it on phone - this one is about a tenner on amazon

Huh can;t post pic but it's called GCSE Economics: A study and revision guide by Tim Punter from 2023 so pretty reccent

Thank you for looking. I saw those but one did not have great reviews, one had no reviews at all and one was £25, which I don't want to spend just to find out if it is ok. I have seen another one elsewhere, but it was published around 10 years ago!

Would really appreciate recommendations from people who have actually used the study guides.

Trouble is not many schools offer GCSE economics so a) there won't be loads of ppl who have used guides and b) there won't be loads of guides.

IME a revision guide is pretty much that; they are all as useful as you make them. I wouldn't worry too much about reviews unless I guess they are pointing out factual errors.

Can uour child ask the economics teacher for a recommendation?
DC cam home and said that the science teacher had suggested a cgp book and showed them a copy ( they also suggested they may be able to get one second hand).
We ordered online, and there were maths and English books too. We ordered the maths one, but left English, because we weren't sure if it was text specific. A few weeks ago the school suggested an exclusive decision guide, and that it could be ordered through them. We have gone with their suggestions and they should soon be given out in school to those that have ordered.

There are quite a few out there but I’d say it’s worth being a bit careful with GCSE revision guides - a lot of them stay quite general, which doesn’t always help students pick up marks in the exam.

For AQA in particular, it’s less about knowing the content and more about how they write their answers (especially in longer questions).

The students who tend to do better are the ones who:

  • use a clear paragraph structure
  • explain their points fully rather than just stating them
  • apply key terms to real examples

If it helps, I’m happy to share what I usually get students to focus on when revising - it’s often quite different from just working through a guide.
