DC in Y8 is unhappy at a comprehensive and wants a smaller, quiet school with more academic challenge. Any reviews of Halcyon, or suggestions of other schools in North or Central London that are kind and welcoming?
Current school is strict, classes of 30. DC hasn’t made friends, but is doing very well academically. I think the strictness has given a sense that all the other children are naughty, so he is not keen on building friendships with them. Alongside this, he seems to be suffering from some anxiety and I suspect that the strictness and possibility of detentions hasn’t helped.
I think smaller classes, a smaller number of children and less strict would be better, so any ideas along those lines would be welcome.
