Does anyone have experience of joining sixth form at these and other similar schools - whether many girls join and if they manage to integrate ok?

If they are sixth form colleges, it will be fine, that's what they do as their core business

DD has just left WHS. It differs slightly every year but in her year about 20
girls joined in Y12 and there were then around 90 in the year so quite a good percentage. (They had an unusually high number leave at the end of Y11 I think so maybe more joiners than normal). I think in general they integrated well. I think everyone is grateful for new faces in 6th form and it’s all quite different the lower years so lots of things are new for everyone!
Isn’t KGS expanding their 6th form so they may have more new people?

No - they’re schools where the majority are students staying from lower years with some new joiners.

Thanks for the info. 20 is a great number - just worried that if it’s only a handful it will be harder. Do you have any idea how many joined WHS the following couple of years?

KGS have their shiny new 6th form centre so will be adding to the amount of pupils coming in to 6th form - so although most will stay on there will be a higher amount joining than previously

My DD's moved school at 6th form - all quite normal and integrated quickly although they boarded so not the schools you're looking at. However they have had friends who went to 6th form at Kings, Kingston, Tiffin and Trinity and all seemed to settle in well and quickly.

ihavebeenchangedforgood · 01/12/2025 18:34

I don’t know how many joined in the last 2 intakes but I’m sure it would be more than a handful. School would definitely tell you if you asked. New joiners are spread throughout tutor groups and have buddies.

have a look at Reeds as well as they have a large intake of girls into the Sixth Form, all of them will be new. Heard great things about it. DD is at KGS, very happy but still in younger years, as others have said they are increasing their intake so should be a nice new group. It's a very friendly school anyway, and then A-Levels are subject specific so I assume it is much easier to get to know classmates well than in younger years.

For KGS, does anyone know how many they’re looking to have in 6th form from September?

I think it’s about 175 (maybe 40 new)?

Thanks @tryinghardtostaycalm. I’ve been told they’re running a couple of offer holder events this week which I think will be helpful is we can make the timings work.

Where did you hear that as we haven’t heard anything?

Email with registrar on some other questions I had. Have you asked for this already? Hopefully they can accommodate you!

No, we haven’t asked - I just assumed they’d let us know if they were going to run anything. Prob not going to take place bc scholarship offers elsewhere, but I’ll check if DC interested in going for another look.
