St Columba’s or berkhamsted 6th form

Looking at 6th form schools for DD. We have offers for both and like aspects of both. DD is academically strong, sociable but often shy and very hesitant to take on leadership roles. ideally want a sixth form that will encourage and ensure she meets her academic potential while nurturing and gently pushing her to get more involved in extra curriculum activities and take on more leadership roles and responsibilities.

would love to hear from any parents with Dtrs at either school.

Would definitely recommend Berko, eldest went there and was very happy. The new 6th building looks amazing too.

My son left st Columba’s 6th form in the summer. There were not that many girls in his year. They have only started going co-ed in recent years. He did very well and is in his first choice uni now. Also had lots of extra curricula opportunities and trips. Very good pastoral care and a nurturing atmosphere. He made some lovely friends too, kind, supportive, polite young men. My dd had a place there to start this year but chose St Albans instead. I believe 13 girls went from her previous school. There will be more girls than that as I think it was a coed year further down the school and there will be more girls joining the 6th form but I suspect there will still be more boys than girls.
