Recording for hockey PE GCSE

Hello,

Wondered if anyone had any recommendations for recording equipment for field hockey to show skills for GCSE? My attempts with an old Android phone are rubbish - I think I need a tripod and maybe something that tracks well, automatically ideally.

I am basically rubbish with things like this and need help. What equipment might make it as easy as possible? Thanks for any advice

Hi OP, doesn't the school do hockey? My ds did rugby in and out of school. School did all the assessments for sports they offered.

If only! No, they seem to want me to record hockey, they do some sports in school but not this one. Its my daughter's best sport so worth my keeping trying (she is only year 10 so I have a little time...).

That's a pain. Sorry I can't help with technology....

I just used my iphone, wish I had bought a tripod as that would have made life easier. I recorded games, but not the individual skills which school did on their tiny astro.

you need to record entire matches, showing your child coming on and off the pitch as well as their playing. Record both receiving ball and passing it on, including the other player receiving the ball (to demonstrate that it was a sensible pass)

make sure you show their positioning off the ball as well as on the ball. Higher level and lower level games will show different playing positions and types of play. So junior/ senior/ TA etc. I think I put in about 10 different games. Yo7 might find clubs record games, or opposition might do- in which case they will provide your club with a recording
Hopethat helps

Hasn’t she got a friend who can do it for her? That’s what my kids did.

Definitely get a tripod. All the ball movement cameras I know (Veo, Xbotgo) I think may require a larger ball. My son & daughter's basketball club use Veo to record matches so DD could just download the footage for her PE assessment but I think for hockey you may be stuck with just using your phone.

Check with the club if you they have a Veo system you could borrow. It's quite expensive but it's a system which lots of grassroot clubs use for recoding games. Perhaps the club already have one
