Opinions on Nonsuch & Wallington Girls

Hi All,

Does anyone have a daughter at either of the above and can comment on the pastoral care and whether the school culture balances academic aspiration with providing encouragement and nurturing?

I have heard girl grammar schools tend to drive pupils hard, and incentivise achievement in ways that create anxiety and competitiveness.

Any perspectives on comparative school cultures of Nonsuch vs Wallington would be much appreciated.

My daughter went to Nonsuch. She was happy enough but left to do her A levels at Epsom and Ewell as she found Nonsuch a bit too stiff and starchy I think. She loved Epsom and Ewell made lots of friends, had fun and did well. I personally think Nonsuch was good for her when younger but she outgrew it. Nonsuch certainly don’t stress the girls out academically as the staff know a lot of the parents already do that to their daughters.

Wallington's pastoral care is amazing. They are looking to support children to become well rounded. They tend to focus more on getting the girls to support each other rather than fueling competitiveness, Parents are actively encouraged to talk to their children about non academic side of school rather than focus on results. My daughter has definitely grown in confidence and her love of learning there.
