We would like to move to Cuffley, Herts. We currently live in Southgate. We have outgrown our house and would like to move somewhere with a slightly more "rural" feel. Not too far from my parents who live in Winchmore Hill. My children are in primary school and I am looking ahead to secondary schools. Please could you recommend good secondary schools close to Cuffley both state and private would be most welcomed. Thank you.

I’m only familiar with the Hertfordshire side of Cuffley. If your child is very academic, you would be in catchment for Dame Alice Owen’s in Potters Bar, a very highly sought after, partially (mostly) selective state school and QE Boys in Barnet, fully selective but doesn’t suit everyone. Cuffley is on bus routes for both St Albans School and the Habs schools, both selective private schools but less so than the state ones. If not looking for a selective setting, Chancellor’s school in Brookmans Park has a fairly good reputation for a state comprehensive, and Aldenham School (mixed), Haileybury (mixed) and Queenswood (girls) would be your private options. You might get lucky with Richard Hale and Presdales in Hertford/ Ware (single sex comprehensives) from there but are not in the priority area. I know nothing about the Enfield/Waltham Cross/Cheshunt direction, I’m afraid.

Yesterday I asked about secondary schools near Cuffley and was so thankful for the very helpful response. Moving can be stressful and overwhelming. We want to be close to my parents in Winchmore Hill. Is Cuffley a good place to live? Just feeing confused…
